“But the dove found no resting place, for the sole of her foot…so she returned to him“ Genesis 8:9

I know this verse is in relation to the story of Noah’s Ark, in which the dove was searching for land, but I feel like God is giving me a different personal message. In my mind I see it in a way where we are the doves and we may go far away from God, here and there and wander around for a really long time, but we will never find a resting place, we will never be comfortable anywhere in life unless we are with the Lord. There will always be something missing, an emptiness inside of us and we will try to fulfil it by seeking peace and love in other worldly or sinful things. But, it won’t make a difference, that is NOT our resting place, God is! So after all that wandering around, Being lost, I pray we will return to our resting place, Our loving Father who has His arms constantly open, waiting for us, welcoming us. Again and again. It’s insane how much He loves us and never gives up on us.

St Augustine says, “You move us to delight in praising You; for You have made us for Yourself, and our hearts are RESTLESS until they rest in You.”
